Fine Jewels
by Catherine Servel de Cosmi
Catherine Servel de Cosmi is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and jewelry. Her jewelry works emerge not as accessories but as sculptures at an intimate scale - objects conceived in dialogue with the body yet complete in themselves.
Each piece is formed by hand in her atelier in Arles. Working with 18k gold and sterling silver, she brings metals into states of fluidity and resistance - cut, hammered, melted, sculpted, and polished until gesture becomes form. Stones are selected for their singular presence: diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, pearls, turquoise, kyanite, chrysoprase, and others whose qualities spark unexpected compositions.
Some works stand alone as unique objects, others exist in very limited series - all retain the immediacy of the hand and the irreproducibility of process. Surfaces hold traces of transformation, edges remain alive with the energy of their making.
Distinctly wearable, these works belong to the field of sculpture. They are acts of material exploration - intimate compositions where matter, form, and touch converge.
